I actually talk about this in my design blog. I worked with Julie Hampden to create this presentation for her environmental education program at public schools. The presentation is for the non profit to enhance student’s local and regional environmental awareness. The multidisciplinary project strives to give students an understanding of responsible stewardship. Here the SandPoint Elementary campus showcases how to keep some of their natural resources on-site by harvesting rainwater to support native plantings and treating storm water runoff in rain gardens.

The project launched at SandPoint with great fanfare and has been a huge success.

See full PDF presentation

Courtesy of Side Street Projects

Because “affordable space” is a challenging obstacle for 80% of America’s non-profits, Side Street Projects became a completely mobile, self-sustaining organization in 2008—much like a M*A*S*H unit. Our offices are a pair of restored vintage travel trailers, our communication systems are 100% wireless, and the whole operation runs on a mobile solar energy array. In partnership with the City of Pasadena, we will remain permanently mobile—transforming blighted, transitional spaces throughout Northwest Pasadena into something that blurs the line between public art and public service.
